EXPERIMENTAL ARCHAEOLOGY VOLUNTEER
This year we have extended the experimental archaeology area by offering a dedicated week of volunteering as well as the course which focuses on the craefts. The volunteer week will allow us to try out a bigger project, something a little more involved.
This week is designed for those that have done the SHARP experimental or craeft course in previous years, or for those that have experience from other relevant experimental courses.
The first day of the volunteer week is the traditional SHARP Festival of Archaeology and will be a condensed day of activities which we do over the course week, a bit of textiles, or a bit of pottery or a bit of jewellery making. Visitors will be directed to the crafting area where they can observe crafts taking place. As those taking part are able to do craeft and experimental activities during the festival, and the week will require raw materials, there is no discount for this week.
The rest of the week we will be looking at wattle and daub and replacing the existing broken fencing as well as a little more pottery firing experimentation. We are also open to new ideas during this week if we can accommodate them.
Please note: persons aged 15 are welcome to attend with a parent or guardian accompanying. Ages 16 and 17 may attend unaccompanied with parental or guardian permission.
