Chalk Pit trench ready for the new season of 2009.

While helping to open up Trench 20 in 2015 Melinda found this intriguing item that when cleaned up turned out to be an early-mid 10th century disc brooch. It is of the backward facing animal design which was surprisingly common for the time and possibly locally made.
